Menstrual Hygiene Day:
Making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030
Today, millions of women and girls* around the world are stigmatised, excluded and discriminated against simply because they menstruate.
It’s not acceptable that because of a natural bodily function women and girls continue to be prevented from getting an education, earning an income and fully and equally participating in everyday life.
While Menstrual Hygiene Day is on 28 May, our team and our partners work all year round to:
- Break the taboos and end the stigma surrounding menstruation
- Raise awareness about the challenges regarding access to menstrual products, education about menstruation and period-friendly sanitation facilities
- Mobilise the funding required for action at scale
All of this contributes to our overarching goal: to build a world where no one is held back because they menstruate by 2030.
*We recognise that not everyone who menstruates identifies as a woman and that not all women menstruate
#MHDay2023
Join the global day of action
If we’re going to succeed in collectively creating a world where periods are a normal fact of life by 2030, commitment to both action and funding must remain high on the menstrual health and hygiene agenda. That’s why #WeAreCommitted will continue to be the overarching theme and hashtag of the 2023 campaign.
This year, we’ve introduced a new approach to our campaign materials focusing on flexibility. As well as providing ready-to-use materials, we’ve developed a set of over 50 icons, a whole new range of bracelets and a sticker-style logo that you can mix, match and combine to create your own MH Day materials. And, to better represent menstruation, we are using a bright and bold shade of blood red across our digital channels, in our materials and in our new logo.
Join us on 28 May. Let’s have a loud and powerful Menstrual Hygiene Day together!
Add your voice to the MH Day campaign using the Menstruation Bracelet
By wearing the bracelet, you’ll show that periods are nothing to hide, start conversations about menstruation and help push back taboos and stigma, one bracelet at a time.
Adding your voice to this campaign couldn’t be easier! All you need to do is share a photo of yourself online featuring a digital menstruation bracelet.
New MH Day logo
Use it like a sticker
Our new sticker-style logo is perfect to add to your own content. It’s easy to integrate to your campaigning materials and shows your support for the MH Day movement. Add it to photos, social media posts, presentations and much more.
