Women can’t enter holy temples during their period.

This oppressive myth spans across parts of the world ranging from Bali and India to Nepal. Women are believed to be ‘unclean’ while menstruating and hence forbidden from entering ‘clean’ and holy places like temples. This belief has for long been a globally controversial and sensitive issue. It not only creates taboos but also shame towards a naturally occurring body cycle (which by the way— helps create future human life!)

Menstruation doesn’t render a woman impure but in fact indicates that she is normal and healthy. #mhday2017 #menstruationmatters
