2019 Target: 10,000

Launched in early 2019, Nari Paila is a set of mobile games that builds reproductive health knowledge in a fun and engaging way. They are the result of a collaboration between the Institute for Reproductive Health at Georgetown University and Gaming Revolution for Inspiring Development, and they reflect best practices of reproductive health programming for adolescents and cutting-edge technology.

In the Nari Paila games, which are tailored to Nepal’s reproductive health context, a multi-generational family makes decisions related to its menstruating members, menstrual hygiene management, fertility awareness, and family planning. In a pilot project, the games were found to increase fertility awareness and foster a supportive environment for family planning – at once increasing knowledge in MHM and breaking taboos around the topic. Furthermore, the social media channels for the game encourage followers and players to share their stories and participate in quizzes on the topics of menstruation and family planning.
