The event started with the explanation of menstruation as an integral part of the female being. Questions were asked to determine participants’ understanding about menstruation.
Menstruation and the menstrual cycle was well-explained before moving on to menstrual hygiene. After that, participants shared their stories about their first menses experiences and the stigma from their communities.
Participants then moved on to play a game in which they listed some cultural taboos around menstruating women and girls, sealed these limits in bottles and placed them against a wall. Each participant then rolled a ball to hit the bottle(s), thereby smashing that cultural belief.
The day ended with the distribution of sanitary pads and pocket calendars to all participants.
