The Menstrual Hygiene Coalition-Gambia in partnership UNFPA-Gambia will raise awareness about period poverty and the taboos surrounding periods on menstrual hygiene Day 2022. Community organizations, teachers, and students across The Gambia will march from the Senegambia junction to Sir Dawda Kairaba Conference center. Panel discussions on period shaming and menstrual health and hygiene management will be done by students from rural Gambia. A poem, drama on period shaming, cultural entertainment, and essay competitions are also part of the event. The UNFPA team, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Ministry of Gender, Women, and Children Welfare, and other stakeholders will be at the event. A total of 250 participants will be at the event.
