#MenstruationMatters: A Forum on Menstrual Hygiene

The Philippine Commission on Women is organizing a forum on Menstrual Hygiene on May 26, 2017 at the University of the Philippines Manila Theater (formerly CAS Little Theater). For the first time, Philippines is joining the global observance of Menstrual Hygiene Day this year which aims to create awareness on the fundamental role that good menstrual hygiene management plays in helping women and girls reach their full potential.

Philippine participation is anchored on Section 20 of the Magna Carta of Women (MCW) Implementing Rules and Regulations, which states that “Women have the right to comprehensive health services and health information and education covering all stages of a woman’s life cycle”. Our goal is to contribute in breaking the myths and misconceptions on menstruation; spread awareness about good menstrual hygiene; and highlight the effects of having a good menstrual hygiene in women and girls’ health and education.
