She Pad Project in Kerala

She Pad Project Kerala is a government initiative for ensuring good menstrual hygiene for school-going girls, generally covering girls up to the age of 18. The AC Nielson report says that only 12% of the 35.5 crore women in India use sanitary napkins. However the state of Kerala (with almost a 100% literacy rate and a Human Development Index on par with developed countries) is always at the forefront of community healthcare Initiatives. The She Pad program gives free sanitary napkins, storage space and eco-friendly incinerators to participating schools. The project inauguration at Chavakkad will be held at Mannathala School Chavakkad. Free sanitary pads will be given to all female students of the Chavakkad Municipality for the upcoming academic year.
