Menstrual Hygiene Management in Emergencies campaign motifs
This year MH Day is providing specific social media campaign motifs for organisations working in the context of MHM in Emergencies. We want to make it easy and straight forward for humanitarian actors to join the MH Day campaign and share how they support women, girls and other people who menstruate when fleeing conflict and/or natural disasters.

Supported by German Humanitarian Assistance.
Background
Dealing with periods is often more difficult in emergencies. Women, girls and other people who menstruate often face a significant loss of privacy and dignity when fleeing conflict and/or natural disasters. Safely managing their menstruation in a new environment is a challenge. They may not have access to the period products of their choice, there might only be limited access to water, and bathrooms and toilets may be shared. These challenges may be exacerbated for people with disabilities or unaccompanied children.
Therefore, we have created three campaign motifs highlighting three thematic areas enabling you to easily share your solutions to the following challenges:
– Access to period products
– Access to period-friendly infrastructure
– Access to menstruation education and information
How to use the motifs
Each motif sets a familiar scene and comes with a headline to add more context. The motifs ask the viewer to put themselves in the shoes of the affected person and gives an insight into their potential thought processes. The content is designed to get your online audience to think about the issue, and as a hook to introduce your organization’s work in the pursuing posts. This mechanism gives humanitarian actors the opportunity to share information about your organisation’s programmes and what you are committed to doing to address these challenges.
Example of how to use the content
