Participate as an organisation
Whether you’re a small NGO, a company, a government agency or anything in between - EVERY organisation can participate in MH Day and contribute to a #PeriodFriendlyWorld. We are many voices united as one movement. And together, we can make a #PeriodFriendlyWorld a reality.
Let's put menstruation in the spotlight
The global interest in menstrual health and hygiene peaks on Menstrual Hygiene Day, 28 May. It is the moment when the MH Day movement comes into action to maximise the attention to menstrual health and hygiene. Collectively, we work at the local, national and global levels. To ensure that our voices are heard loud and clear, we campaign under the same theme. By using the same hashtag and the campaign materials, our collective efforts feed into one universal goal: making this a #PeriodFriendlyWorld.
No matter what your field of work is, you can participate in MH Day! On May 28, the work of an entire movement is there to give you momentum. And the best part is that participating is super easy. Make use of the great theme "Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld." It helps you to tell your story. And the look? There is a variety of campaign materials ready and waiting for you. You can smoothly integrate them into your design or use the ready-made motifs as they are. Let's get the conversation going about a #PeriodFriendlyWorld!
Organise an event
The 10th anniversary of Menstrual Hygiene Day is the perfect opportunity to organise an MH Day event on the ground or online. Bring people together, drive conversations and accelerate action towards a #PeriodFriendlyWorld. The extra attention is a great chance to engage political decision-makers and bring in the media.
MH Day offers an opportunity for many different types of events.
- Want to highlight your work? Consider organising an educational event. You can also collect and donate products to show your work and help those in need.
- If you want to keep it internal, activate your staff during the lunch break or at an after-work event. You can soon find fun inspirations in the Period Party section.
- Do you want to raise awareness? Consider organising a community event such as public gatherings, rallies or exhibitions.
- We must involve leaders to create a #PeriodFriendlyWorld. A great opportunity for this would be a national event that brings together key stakeholders such as the government and civil society.
Tip: team up with other organisations on your events. This will increase your visibility, boost your relevance, and use resources better.
Do you have something else in mind? Totally fine! Whatever works best for you, considering your goals, audience and resources!
The 10th anniversary of MH Day is a great chance to take stock and reflect on the past, present and future. From a large-size backdrop to a poster, you can find different visual assets in the materials section that will boost your event. Looking for fun things to celebrate the 10th anniversary of MH Day? We invite you to share your event with the International Secretariat of MH Day! After May 28, a selection of events will be highlighted on the MH Day website and in the MH Day Impact Report 2024. And in any case, it will be considered in the total number of events around Menstrual Hygiene Day. Just fill out the form below!
A global symbol for menstruation
28 elements, 5 of which are red. The Menstruation Bracelet is a global symbol for menstruation
The Menstruation Bracelet is a global symbol for menstruation and an ultimate campaigning tool, seamlessly fitting into any situation. Those who wear the digital or a physical Menstruation Bracelet show that periods are nothing to hide. They spark conversations about menstruation and, by that, push back period stigma.
Let’s end period stigma and make this a #PeriodFriendyWorld, one Bracelet at a time.
The Menstruation Bracelet is the ultimate campaigning tool for organisations, seamlessly fitting into any situation. You can simply use the digital Menstruation Bracelet. Or you can make Menstruation Bracelets from beads - or whatever other materials you fancy.
Here are some ideas how to use the Menstruation Bracelet:
Engage political decision-makers
When it comes to engaging political decision-makers, the Menstruation Bracelet is a perfect door-opener. Ask them to post their image with the bracelet on social media. This is an easy way for them to show support for this important topic.
Collaborate with influencers
The bracelet is an excellent tool for influencers. Ask them to use it in their posts and to add their voices to MH Day. They will engage their followers to spread the awareness even further.
Enhance you social media content
Use the digital bracelet - animated GIFs or illustrations - to enhance your visuals for social media.
Bracelet making activities
Organise bracelet-making activities in communities or schools to start the conversation about menstrual health and hygiene.
Encourage your organisation's leadership and colleagues
Encourage your organisation's leadership and colleagues to join the cause by taking a selfie with the bracelet. Combine them into a collage to create a simple but powerful piece of corporate communication.
The media as our ally
Media coverage of menstruation around MH Day has increased tremendously in the last 10 years. The mass media have helped bring the movement's stigma-busting messaging to the general public, and journalists showed a high interest in the topic at this time of the year. Make sure to use this platform to make your voice heard!
Make sure to tap into the potential of a media publication by providing newsworthy collaboration material.
- As an expert in your field, you can share an opinion piece or formulate a public demand.
- Using the momentum of MH Day to announce a commitment is a reliable way to get media coverage. Whether it is a donation of products, a funding commitment or a program announcement – this is the time!
- Involving the media in the extraordinary event you host should ensure extensive coverage.
- And creativity is always a winner: a public art piece or an extra creative approach to your campaign activities will draw attention to your work!
This year is not just any MH Day – we are celebrating the 10-year anniversary! A movement with history. This adds quite a bit of gravitas to your publication. And we can be proud of what we have achieved in the past 10 years. Add this twist to your media coverage, and take a moment to look back. Reflect and take stock. Then we can then move forward to a #PeriodFriendlyWorld.
Engaging decision-makers
Our individual influence only reaches so far. To really make deep and impactful change happen, we need to involve the ones who set the framework. We must speak with decision-makers and make them aware of the needs and possibilities for change. This is not a task of one day but a continuous work that gains momentum around MH Day
A key aspect of achieving change on a scale is adequate funding. But who funds Menstrual Health and Hygiene? And where does the money go? The first step to adequate funding is an equal understanding of the current state of funding. Check out the MHH Funding Tracker, the first central source of data on funding for menstrual health and hygiene.
Official Partners & Supporters
MH Day supporters are financial supporters who provide funding to the International Secretariat of MH Day and make Menstrual Hygiene Day possible. Supporters also include large international organisations who go above and beyond to boost the impact of MH Day. They are the champions behind the movement. In turn, they enjoy special supporter benefits, such as early access to materials, individual support and exchange, activation webinars and visibility.
The 1,000+ Official Partners are the core of the MH Day movement and make it what it is today: the biggest global campaign to create a #PeriodFriendlyWorld. We are working on a new partner section where all partners will be represented. That partner section will be coming soon.
